Imagine sitting in a cinema, watching a film.
You're the audience, observing the characters, their decisions, their difficulties and the events unfolding before you.
Now imagine something rather unusual.
Suddenly, you're no longer sitting in the audience. You're inside the film, playing one of the characters.
Everything feels different. What you were previously watching from a distance has become something you're directly experiencing.
Now imagine a third possibility.
You're also the projector.
You begin to wonder how much of what you're experiencing comes from the events themselves, and how much comes from the way you're interpreting them.
Of course, this is only an imaginary exercise. But it raises an interesting question about everyday life.
Are we simply experiencing what happens to us, or are we also participating in the way those experiences become our personal reality?
And can we ever completely separate the observer from the experience being observed?
