What We Resist

← Original Explorations

Resistance is something I've explored for much of my life.

Sometimes we recognise it immediately. We don't want something to happen. We don't want a situation to change. We don't want to experience a particular feeling.

Other times, resistance is much quieter.

It may appear as hesitation, avoidance, frustration, or the feeling that life isn't unfolding as we believe it should.

Years ago, I approached resistance as something to understand and transform.

Today, I'm equally interested in simply observing it.

Because resistance isn't always something that needs to be overcome.

Sometimes it may be protecting us from something genuinely harmful. At other times, it may be keeping us attached to something that no longer serves us.

And sometimes we may not know which is which.

Perhaps the question isn't always how to remove resistance.

Perhaps it's worth asking what we're resisting, why it matters to us, and what might happen if we simply became more aware of it.
